Noah, that is. Noah started his first year playing tackle football. Let's just say, he is a lover. The child hates any type of conflict. He is also just a laid back kid. So, when he said that he wanted to play football this year, I was very hesitant. Last year when he wanted to play , I asked him if he would cry if he got thrown to the ground, and his immediate response was, "Yes!" I told him that is why he would not be playing football.
Well, that was last year. I must admit, the kid has grown up in a year's time. He still shies away from most things physical, but he has gotten much better about not being afraid to get hurt while playing kickball or baseball, for instance. But, when he said he wanted to play football, I was surprised. I must admit, I was nervous the first game. Have you seen some of those kids out there? Those "supposeid" 3rd graders look like seniors in high school! At Noah's first game he spent a lot of time on the bench with an occasional turn to play defense. At the second game he caught a pass! He was so excited. The rest of the season was pretty uneventful, but that game was worth the season.
Really, has there ever been a cuter football player?
So, we will see if he does it again next year. He seemed to really enjoy playing, and hey, he might surprise me and be quarterback for Jasper in High School. Dream big, Ned, Dream big! No matter what, I am proud of him for taking a chance and proving his mom wrong. No tears were shed. A successful season for us all.
